MMA and UFC legend, Royce Gracie, will return to Capital Mixed Martial Arts and Elite Fitness in Northern Virginia for three days of seminars. Royce will visit all three Capital Locations, Takoma Park MD, Old Town Alexandria and Loudoun County, to teach classes in Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi Submission Wrestling and Kid’s MMA. Don’t miss this chance to train with a legend in our sport.

The in-house tournament held last weekend in Loudoun was a huge success, with over 60 competitors participating. Congratulations to all the winners, who will receive a new pair of Capital Clinch Gear MMA Shorts.

Aitor Canup MMA Seminar Review

Team ROC instructor and Royce Gracie black belt Spencer “Aitor” Canup made the trip to Northern Virginia to teach a Mixed Martial Arts Seminar at Capital’s Loudoun Academy this past weekend. Aitor showed several striking and grappling techniques with an MMA emphasis inside the cage.

Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt and veteran MMA Fighter Spencer “Aitor” Canup will teach an MMA Seminar Saturday February 20th in the Cage at Capital’s Loudoun Academy.

Capital Snowpocalypse Contest

Capital will provide any member of Capital (student or coach) with ONE FREE MONTH tuition for submitting the BEST “Capital SNOWPOCALYPSE/SNOWMAGEDDON Workout”. This can be a CrossFit style “shoveling for time” WOD, MMA work on the local Snowmenm or Muay Thai low kicks on the snow covered banana trees in Kru’s back yard. Anything goes so long as Capital is displayed/mentioned in some way in the video (logo on shirt, vocally named, logo placed into video, snowman wearing CJJ hat….) Any “sponsored athlete” (not paying tuition) can give their free month away if they win!

Athletes must also post the video to the Capital facebook page or the Message Board under “Capital SNOWPOCALYPSE/SNOWMAGEDDON Workout” Videos. The deadline for submissions is February 12th, 2010.

In-House No-Gi Tournament 2/27/10

Capital Mixed Martial Arts and Elite Fitness will hold another in-house tournament Saturday February 27th at the Loudoun County VA Academy featuring both adults and kids divisions. The tournament will be no-gi/submission wrestling and division winners will receive the new Capital Clinch Gear Grappling Shorts. If you’re a member of Capital, this is a great opportunity to have fun and get some competition experience without the added pressure and hassle of traveling outside the Northern Virginia area and to get to know members of other Capital academies. Our CrossFit program continues to grow, and in March Capital Mixed Martial Arts and Elite Fitness will expand the CrossFit schedule for both the Loudoun County and Alexandria Academies. In Loudoun we’ll be adding special skills classes, and the Old Town Alexandria schedule will offer more afternoon/evening WOD’s.
